Our decision to open Roundwood for accommodation over 25 years ago was initially based on a desire to meet and interact with people and to fulfill a longstanding ambition to restore a house of great architectural merit. The approach we have taken to all aspects of the accommodation and dining has been guided by our own personal experiences and, together with our staff, we endeavour to create a special place where personal service comes naturally, life is taken at a more relaxed pace and good food, wine and conversation abound. Each of our ten bedrooms and three self-catering cottages have their own unique and interesting features, are filled with books and paintings and have beautiful views of the gardens. Evening meals are prepared with great care and imagination, using ingredients that are always fresh. Our philosophy has always been to provide an informal, Irish atmosphere, where it is possible to meet and enjoy the company of other guests. We hope that you will have the chance to discover the many charms of Roundwood House and its surroundings for yourself.
Frank and Rosemarie Kennan |
Roundwood House has recently been taken over by Frank and Rosemarie's daughter, Hannah, and her husband Paddy, who don't seem bothered by the fact that Frank and Rosemarie are being sent to live in the barn. Assurances have been given by the new managment to retain the philosophy of the old and there will be no introduction of wide screen televisions or trouser presses, much to Frank and Rosemarie's relief. Frank and Rosemarie look forward to continuing to enjoy the company of all the guests they have got to know so well during their 26 years in Roundwood.
